fuel pump removal

i have a 91 camaro and i need to remove the fuel pump. it looks like a lot of trouble. has anyone ever cut an access door behind the seat to remove it?

Drop the rear and take it out the bottom. If you cut an access door, you'll also need to cut all the lines when pulling the pump.

Don't cut an access panel!!! It weakens the body/frame structure. It is best to remove exhaust and lower the rearend. It takes about 8 hours to do the job. You will have regrets if you cut a access hole. Rust in the tank can cause a fuel pump to quit. Do it right and remove the fuel tank and wash it out with a pressure washer. Make sure all lines are free flowing. My return line was stopped up with rust from the fuel tank. Make sure you inspect the contacts for the fuel guage sending unit and clean as needed.
