So my service engine soon light has been coming on every now and then. I was wondering can you still test for errors when the light is not on? Will they still come up?

Thx in advance.

Do a search on using a paperclip to read GM codes, count the flashes & watch for the pauses.

So will the codes come up even tho the service engine light is not on? That's all I need to know. I can have my dad run his tester on it.

If it comes on randomly while driving at a certain speed it could be the egr valve mine did that but i pulled off the manifold and saw the whole part was blocked with carbon build up. it might just be vacuum line related too those are great places to start both of those has set my light off
