Run ning a carb in the snow

Hey i have a carb'd 87 305 and yesterday it snowed here so naturally i took warmed it up and took it for some driving. It didnt want to idle right after a few minutes of running, and when i got on it and revs hit prob past 3500rpm it would occasianly act like it wanted to die. It felt like the car gasped and lost all rpm, then came alive again a second later. It runs fine normally, is it the too dense or moist air?

Is it bad to run my carb in the snow? thanks

I'd try to keep the snow out of the carb...

If it's bad to run a carb'd car in the snow, then we've had many millions of bad people for the last hundred years or so...

Is your choke light coming on? Does your choke light work?

Do you have the factory air cleaner on the car? If so, is the air cleaner missing any parts?

Has aftermarket air cleaner on it that to my knowledge is installed right. And never heard of a choke light.

Factory carb'd cars have a choke light in the dash. You may have never noticed it, or the bulb may have burnt out.

Factory tune isn't all that happy without the thermovac function. Not necessarily as you described, though. The transition from cold & choked to fully warmed and choke open, coming off idle, is where the problems really show up.

Re: Run ning a carb in the snow

Does it run ok once its warmed up? Or is this something thats become a continuous problem?

The aftermarket air cleaner- I would double check that it was installed correctly. make sure everything is in good shape and everything that needs to be hooked up is hooked up. Something else that may be a good idea, try re-installing the original one and see if it helps. You never know!

EGR?

Vacuum leak?
