6an Hose = 3/8?

Looking to purchase some fittings to convert my fuel lines from the stock steel pos lines.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-6-An-S...d2c844&vxp=mtr

I'm gonna skimp on the braided lines for now and use regular 3/8" fuel hose, however the seller is saying that these fittings will only accept a 6an size hose. I thought that 6an hose and 3/8 hose were pretty much the same size. Or did I read that wrong?

AN fittings are based on 16th's of an inch. 6 AN is 6/16 which is 3/8" but not sure you can use AN fittings on regular rubber hose. Maybe you can I'm not sure.
