Distributor question.

I have a 1988 camaro 305 and there are two ports on the ignition module. But I only use one of them and only one plug goes to the coil, but there are two plug ins on each, am i missing something here?

Re: Distributor question.

Do you have a tachometer that works, might be a connection for that.

Yes, missing the pigtail between the coil & ICM. It is two wires, a white and a pink with a connector on each end. Can find them in JY's on Caprices, 3rd gens (6 & 8 cyl, year dependent), and many trucks and vans.

Just look for ones that have the small cap distributor. And grab a couple as the wire tends to break where it exits the coil side connector.

The engine won't run with it missing. It provides power to the ICM and the ground to dwell & fire the coil on the other wire.

Yes, that too. Without power the ICM won't send distributor reference pulses (DRPs) to the ECM. Which it needs in order to fire the injectors. The 4-wire connector is the interface between the distributor and ECM.

Thank you so much. I must have lost the old one during the eengine swap. I just made the connections and boom it fixed all my problems. Injectors pulse and car starts. Thank you again so much.
