Borla exhaust setup?

Borla exhaust setup?
Ok so the previous owner of my 87 formula 305 4BRL put a borla 3" SS catback exhaust on it. It sounds good for the most part and looks good I just have one problem.
It has two tips coming out in the back but only one of them is off of the muffler and the other one is right off the pipe going into the muffler. So as expected one side is much louder then the other one. You basically get all the noise from one tip and the smoke from the other tip off of the muffler. I thought the previous owner mentioned something about having a valve inside that I could change to direct how much was sent into the muffler but i dont see anything when I take it apart. Ive included a picture of the rear section of the exhaust looks not on the car. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Re: Borla exhaust setup?
It's not a valve. The system comes with baffle plates you add to the right side that restricts sound going out.
The way the system works is after the muffler fills with back pressure if forces the exhaust out the right side.
I have mine with the open baffle and love it. When I idle in the winter I get condensation coming from both sides.
I've also had mine on for 12 years now.

Ahhh I see. I do have a baffle plate in there. You can sort of see it in the picture. I wonder if it would be better without it? I just feel like as it is most of the sound comes from the right side pipe. Right side being the passenger side.
How does yours sound? Even or mostly from the one side?

Re: Borla exhaust setup?
When I finish building my 383 I will still use this system. I love it and I've had many people think I had more than a stock motor. Mainly because it doesn't sound like a flowmaster kit. I use the open plate that gives me full sound. When I'm driving around town even in stop and go traffic with the tops off it's not loud. I can talk to the other people in the car. But when I put my foot in it the system comes alive.
