Easiest way to get 350rhp out of a 350 vortec
I'm about to start my build up of my 96 L31 block and I'm wanting to know how I could make 350 rhp easily. I know stock the engine had 255hp, Here are my plans so far
Hot tanking block and heads
Re ringing the pistons
Rpm preformer intake
Holly 650 carb with vac secondary's
HEI racing dizzy with vac advance
1.6 scorpion roller rockers
Lt4 horcam or z24 cam
New spring kit in the heads
Screw in studs
3 angle valve guide
Long tue headers
Under drive pulleys
2500-2800 stall converter
Either a built 700r4 or a TH350
Would this net me around my 350 rhp goal? Should I do anything else? I can't decide if I want to keep the engine stock or go the 383 route.

Do a GOOGLE search
There are a million Vortec builds documented online with parts lists and dyno results .just pick one and follow it
Example
http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ock/index.html
http://www.popularhotrodding.com/eng...k/viewall.html
Remember you need 20% more Hp at the crank to get what you want at the wheels
If you hot tank you will need new cam bearings ($$$ )
and as you are only doing a re-ring job ;
not a full rebuild hardly worth the extra cost.
Knock the block plugs out , get some rifle bore brushes and get familiar with the inside of your engine

I am doing a full rebuild, just minus boring The block, the cylinder walls are smooth as silk and don't even need ridge remmed.

350 at the tires will likely need more cam than a hotcam but the hotcam should net around 330 hp at the tires with good exhaust/intake. Something like the comp cams 276hr/cc503 grind could work on a 110lsa or tighter. Usually worth 15-20 hp over a hotcam in some setups.

Looks like I'm going to follow the popular hot rodding magazine build. But I might go to a better piston to help out alittle. Dies anyone know if I should keep my stock windage tray or upgrade to a louvered one?
