i just replaced the msd ignition rotor button/bushing in my hei distributer. this is it http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD-Ignition/121/8412/10002/-1

I was getting no spark so i took apart the distributer and found it was broken in half. I don't know why so i just replaced it. Now the car is getting good spark from what i can see testing the plug wires. It ran immediately after that. i even turned it on and off a few times. I can out later in the day and it wouldnt start. It just turns over and over until every few few seconds it will sound like fires a single cylinder.
I thought i may have accidentally put the rotor back on backwards so i flipped it around. It backfired so i knew it was correct the other way. I flipped it back then it fires right up. It runs good and i can turn the engine on and off and it fires right up every time.
I went inside to wash my hands and come out and it doesnt start. It acts how i described earlier where it wil crank over for a while and hit a cylinder every once in a while.
The car is a 1988 firebird formula. I was told the engine came out of an early 90's camaro. I ran the block numbers and all i could find was it said something like 87'-94' 350 5.7 block.
it feels like something stupid is wrong but i dont know if its serious or not. I need to go to work tomorow and if i get it working i dont want to get stranded
