Well at least it was for me. A long time ago this guy in my shop decided he wanted to race me (still hasn't happened). So we get to talking and comparing cars. Mine of course an 87 trans am with a rebuilt 350 pushing I'm guessing 275. Got that number from a 0-60mph calc. He's saying that his 01 golf with soon to be an 06 gti engine with a comp tune (giving roughly 40 more horse to equal about 240) will beat me. Well I was interested in how these cars stacked up in numbers so I took upon myself to look these specs up. I'm not sure if these are right but I'm sure they are close. That being said we have about the same power to weight T/a 0.079, golf 0.08. I have better lateral accel .86 T/a, .083 golf. I'm also wider and lower then he is. so giving these numbers. on a circuit course who would you guys put your money on?

Wrong section but id say you could take him on the circuit if you can drive better then he does. Besides for counting skill (which matters alot) those cars are quite a bit newer then yours. Id think the front drive part would also slow him down in the corners. Just my opinion
