383 Stroker Build/Swap soon to start.
Hey fellow thirdgen enthusiasts.
Finally I have located a suitable 2 piece rear main seal 350 4 bolt motor and will begin to build myself the 383 stroker I have been planning on for a while now.
It is going to replace the 305 currently in my 1983 camaro and will be mated to a 700R4 trans. I want this to be an every day, daily driver.
Im looking at using an eagle rotating assembly, probably forged, AFR 195 Street heads, an Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap intake, maybe a Demon 750 cfm carb, and MSD ignition for the motor.
As for everything else I want to beef up the 700R4, add subframe connectors and a wonder bar to the chassis, and swap out the axel for something stronger with 3.73 gears.
Now for where I need some help... I am lost on how to choose a cam shaft. I don't know if the 65cc or the 75cc combustion chambers will be better for what I want or how it will effect the compression. What can I do to ensure the 700R4 will last? What axel is best for this set up? Should I get the blocked decked while its at the machine shop?
I plan on doing almost everything myself, or with the help of various mechanic friends.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated as I am open minded to any feed back.
Thanks

Re: 383 Stroker Build/Swap soon to start.
Current thinking has smallest chamber possible so 58 -64cc chambers
Need to decide compression ratio ( what fuel you want to run ) and need to know piston cc in order to pick head chamber size
Trans and diff questions should be asked in appropriate forums
Cam can only decided after you have worked out CR (from head / piston choice )
Block gets decked ( or not ) as a adjustment to achieve your chosen compression

so the 65cc would better?
and i would like to run either 89 or 92 octane. what ratio would require that?
Okay I understand. you then hav to take in consideration the head gasket as well right?
thanks for the reply
