Need help please . . .

So I let my cousin take out my electric fuel pump so I could hook up my manual pump. I went ahead and had him cut the hole in the hump to access the pump w/o dropping the tank. I know its highly discouraged but I think it's good idea. But when he removed the pump he cut the lines with tin snips and cut the fuel gauge float from the top of the pump assembly. Is there anyway to reattach the float so it works right or anything so I don't have to spend forever trying to find a new pump assembly?
