Take off the lines, then remove the 2 bolts and the pump will fall off. Installing is a little trickier, there is a pushrod that goes up to the cam that has to be in place.

so put a dab of grease on the cam end of it to hold it in place in the block on the pump reinstall

Thats a good idea but what bout using a bolt through the block to hold the rod? Guess gm could of changed block design.

I usually dab some grease on the ends as well as a film over the length of the push rod and that holds it.
I also like to put a thin film of gasket maker, black RTV on either side of the new gasket to help hold it in place and seal well. Torque the bolts evenly. Don't smoke around the fuel lines
