carb bracketry???

I bought a edelbrock 1411 carb and a vortec performer rpm 7116 intake with 906 heads I need a pic of a properly connected throttle cable/TV cable bracket with the part numbers. I bought from summit part number 8036 and this bracket looks like a complete waste of time. And the carb I have didn't come with the bolts for mounting the carb. Somebody help a rookie out. HELP!!!!!

Re: carb bracketry???

Edlebrock makes a setup for their carbs to mount the cables. Look for something that mounts to the carb bolts, not the intake (trust me- way easier in the long run). The throttle cable stud is usually a separate piece you buy and bolt to the poroper hole in the throttle arm. You may need an additional bracket on the throttle arm to work with the TV cable- the geometry is slightly different than earlier kickdown cables.

I'll also recommend you buy carb STUDS to mount the carb, not bolts. Way too easy to cross-thread and strip the threads out of an aluminum intake using bolts. Buy them longer than you need because you're going to have to take into account the thickness of the gasket and the throttle cable bracket (if you buy a bracket that bolts to the carb, like I mentioned above. They are the LAST thing I buy when doing a new carb setup for that reason.

Re: carb bracketry???

aagghhh!!!!! I apperantly am missing something. I have not found the answer to this (i guess) simple question. I checked the edelbrock site and found the very bracket that I bought.. so either I don't have a clue how to hook it up or i am thinking about it waaaayyyy too hard. and what size bolts go into the hole just above the water pump and just behind the intake to plug them on a 010 350 block (69-78 350v8 block) I need to know the size so I can find them and plug these two holes.

It is just a mount for the cables ;it does not have the required corrector bracket that bolts to the carb linkage and makes the trans TV cable work correctly

What hole " above" the water pump ? you mean in the block above the timing cover ???
in any case you don't use bolts; you use pipe plugs
try 1/8" NPT

Re: carb bracketry???

ok, I want to thank everyone that has tried to help me thru this and i am posting the results of what I believe is the answer to my quest. just in case another ROOKIE has the same problem.

from summit racing part# 8036 IS the bracket for the edelbrock 1411 carbs to have the TV cable and the throttle connected BUT!!!!!!!!!!! remember the bracket is for the 1978 and earlier intake not block. I made the mistake and got this one and did not see that it was not for the 96 and later VORTEC intakes. make sure that whatever you get that has to connect to the block is for the correct year model block and whatever you have to connect to the heads and intake are for the year model heads and intake you are working with. To the experts that will say that this was a stupid rookie mistake well please remember that I am a complete rookie and this is a lesson well learned. part number should have been 8032. Thank you
