Street cam/carb suggestion for 383 build
Hey guys,
I've finally got my stroker motor! I was able to find a good used motor (Scat cast crank, .030 over flat top pistons, GM pink rods, block machined and in great shape) and I've got it at the machine shop now for flux, rings, freeze plugs and bearings. For now, i'm going to be running the same heads I had on my 350, which are the 642 (I believe) castings, 1.94/1.50 valves. I know they're not great, but aluminum heads are coming next year (Trick flow super 23s methinks...or Edelbrock E-street). I'm running the 700-R4, stock converter, stock 3.23s, and hoping to run drag radials in the back (nothing too radical). Weiand Action/Plus intake, Crane 1.5 roller tips....anything i'm forgetting? What i'm asking is for a good street cam, one that'll run great and still pull hard when I hit the pedal, what do you guys suggest. I'm keeping it flat tappet hydraulic, and I've been considering Edelbrock Perfomer, Performer-Plus, and Lunati 60102. Let me know what you think, if there is something i've overlooked. Also looking at Edelbrock carbs, is 650 the best bet with my set-up? Especially if i'm going to be improving head flow over the next year? Really appreciate the help guys, thank you
