Electrical Radiator fan/other trouble
Hi everyone i have a huge problem!
About a week back i got home from taking the Z28 out.
The car ran great and everything was smooth. The problem started as i turned the engine off and removed the key from the ignition. The electric radiator fan remained on!
I proceeded to turn the car on and off, turn the key to every spot i could and then try and pull all the fuses.
Nothing...
The battery eventually went dead as the fan ran it out of power.
I discovered that if i turn the DEFROSTER ON it will turn the electric radiator fan off.
The problem is even if i turn the defroster on and then off, the car will still not start back up again, unless it is
jumped.
I have worked on it for a week now and i have only made small progress.
I found wires that went to the sensor that tells the fan to turn on when the engine gets to the right temp and they
were disconnected!
Before i connected this wire to the sensor, every time i turned the car on,the electric fan would start.
After the fan stayed on that one time, the rad fan would not turn on when the ignition was turned on.
After plugging that wire into the sensor the fan now turns on at 180 but the fan still stays on even after the key is
out of the ignition.
Please if anyone has any advice/suggestions reply as soon as you can.
Thanks in advance for the help everyone!

Re: Electrical Radiator fan/other trouble
First place I'd check would be the fan motor's relay , which will be right next to the brake master cylender under the hood .
If that relay sticks (hangs up) in the "on" position (contacts stuck closed) then it would keep the fan on regardless of the ignition key position .
Try substituting a different relay into that circuit and see if it cures the always running fan . I'll bet it will ........
PS , till then , disconnect the connector at the fan motor when your not running it , to keep it from draining (and ruining) your battery . Car batterys really don't take kindly to being discharged flat empty too many times before they fail ..........

Re: Electrical Radiator fan/other trouble
I know this is a really late reply, but never better late than never! I replaced the fan realy and it was broke! The new one fixed the fan and it turned off when i turned the Z28 off!!!!!!! The only problem was the battery still went dead fast. I replaced the alt and it turns out having to jump the car so many times caused the alternator to short and die! Its all fixed up now! Thank you so much for the relay advice my camaro is running strong !!
