General questions on a new purchase

Proud new owner of a 3rd gen Camaro! Car I purchased has a rebuilt carbed 305 from what I can gather from the PO and a mechanic friend. Was looking to do a tune-up of sorts but had a few general questions as I am newb with these engines. Trying to figure out spark plug gap size and oil type to use. I've seen stock 305 gap sizes ranging from .030 to .045 but also know that mods can affect the gap as well so I'm pretty much lost on this. Was also wondering if somebody could suggest a suitable oil grade to use, I know it's been given nothing but full synthetic and I plan to keep it that way just need to know if 10w30 is the way to go or not.

Re: General questions on a new purchase

Look on the underside of the hood and you should see a sticker that tells you the proper plug gap for that engine. Use that number on a set of stock replacement plugs and you should be all set. As for oil, 10w30 or 5w30 should be fine to use without any issues.

Thanks for the suggestions. Should it matter that the engine currently under the hood has a different induction system then the stock engine not to mention different heads and intake?
