Re: fuel pump ground????
What year and engine? On my 91 8 Code 5.7 it's the black wire from the sending unit. Connector plugs into the bulkhead connector forward of the fuel tank. Not sure where the actual ground is connected from there but a quick ohm check would tell you if it's a good ground.

ok i believe mine is the same its 89 firebird 5.7 TPI im trying to tack down why my pump wont prime its new fuel pump among other parts i prob it with a noid light and get nothing at the tan wire and a very weak light at the pink wire. you dont happen to know where i can find the fuel system curcuit layout do you. what setting sould i have the ohm meter on and what should it read.. me and volt meters are like fat kids and broccli

I don't trust ohm readings when testing for poor connections. You can get a low reading on a circuit and have the same circuit drop voltage when it's placed under a load. I use the voltage drop test. Simply place one lead at one end of the circuit and the other lead at the other end. Since the circuit is supposed to have no resistance in it, there should be no voltage reading from one end to the other. In reality, you may see .2 volts from end to end on either the positive side or the ground side, when the pump is running. If you see more than 1 volt, you have a definite poor connection somewhere in that circuit. You can then break the circuit up into sections and test each one to pinpoint the bad connection.

Re: fuel pump ground????
Glad I could help. If we could just get the hackers to stop mutilating the wiring harnesses, we would all have a few less headaches...
