I went outside to crank my car up to move it around the house and it took 31 times before it actually stayed cranked. It will turn on but will not even stay on for two seconds then turn right back off. The fuel pump comes on every time. It has been doing this for like two or three months and I still have no idea what is wrong. The car will also turn off on me while I am driving down the road which it has actually turned off in the middle of the road before while i was pulling out luckily there was no one coming. The car is an 88 Iroc with the 350 TPI and i have headers on it and also a MSD Ignition. I was thinking possibly the MSD ignition but i am not sure so would someone please help me out?

 

Have you checked the fuel pressure? The fuel pump gets priming power at ignition on from a relay on the firewall and from the oil pressure switch after it starts. OP switch may be bad or failing.

Although I also have an MSD 6a and have had it fail before also. But it would fail when it got hot.

 

I haven't checked any of that but I will see if that helps out. The MSD ignition I have is a 6AL but its not really getting hot at all. I appreciate your help because i have no idea at all of what could be wrong. I have talked to a couple people around my town and they do not know either. If you can think of any other problems just please let me know by the way i really like your car. The color is like I have always wanted mines burgundy.

 

It doesn't do it everyday and it has been a couple weeks since it has done it.
