YES - I know this has been discussed a million times!!!
I just finished replacing the air cleaner on my 1992 Camaro RS. 305 TBI.The car is new to me with 13,000 original miles. I have read just about every post on here about the change out but didn't read anything about blue smoke as it warms up. Looks and smells rich. It didn't do that before the change. I have a 14x3" filter. Spacer ring is removed. PCV valve and passenger side breather are untouched and not removed. I just stuck the breather filter into the end of the metal tube that went to the original air cleaner. Vacuum line is capped off and IAT sensor is zip tied up under the fire wall out of the way. What's with the richness (blue smoke) during the warm up? Is that something that will happen each time? How will it affect the plugs over time? Dang computers and smog gear.
Thanks for any help.

Why with 13,000 miles is a vacuum tube capped? Also, just something to think about. Your car is 20yrs old, and with that the valve seals may be hard and not sealing. Does it do it after it's warm? The seals will leak a little oil around the valves after it sits for a while. It won't hurt anything if that's whats going on. With a vacuum tube not connected, you should be getting a code, or else its a hose or tube that looks like a vacuum line like a windshield washer hose possibly. Does the exhaust smell more like oil or gas?

Parts of the swap out I have read on this forum have indicated capping off the vacuum line that ran from the bottom of the TBI up to the original air cleaner and securing the IAT sensor out of the way near the fire wall. I haven't invented anything different than what was recommended by those who have done this before me. The only mod that may affect the air/fuel mix would be the IAT placement not being back in the bottom air cleaner pan. However, some have recommended just moving it out of the way in the engine bay with no care on placement and they had great results. So that's why i was asking about the smoking during warm up. Everything else I did was followed to the items listed in these blogs.
