Mystery Squeal from 1992 Z28 Tranny/Engine**With Video**

So I have a 92z After she warms up there is a very loud Squeal coming from under the car. I put her on a lift and it got louder when i took my inspection cover off. I have heard Loose/Broken Flex-plate bolts, cracked flex-plate, or even a Distributor Bushing??? Never even heard of that. Any of you ever hear this any help would be great. I've read of similar problems but no one ever updates and posts what fixed it.

You can verify that the noise is in the trans by separating the torque converter from the flexplate (unbolt and slide it back slightly). It will idle a little rough duel to the lack of flywheel mass, but you should be able to run it for a few minutes to verify whether the noise still occurs.

Pump bushings in the TH700-R4 are known wear items. Stock pump rotors and housings which are routinely subjected to RPM in excess of 5,000 often fail.

A stator bushing in the TC itself is also a remote possibility, and that would be evident by wear marks on the pump stator shaft/hub. You would only be able to see that by removing the TC, which would involve removing the trans from the engine completely.
