Hey guys I just got a 92 rs with a 305 and it has a ticking noise so I changed the push rods and lifters and it still makes the noise. People keep telling me it can be the oil pump while others say just do a engine swap to 350. My question is can it be the oil pump making a ticking noise and if I do a engine swap to 350 will I pass smog in (California).

hey man i hae the same noise in my 92 305. still working on a 350 for it. just wanted a bigger motor (more to play with). i have been told it might be the piston rings or a bad valve seal.
