opinions...I think my tune is trash
About a year ago I got a mail order tune from a large well known company that will remain unnamed for now. Now I know you guys will chew me a good one for not going diy, but the plan was to use the tune just until I could get it dynotuned.
Long story short, my vortec 383 tpi had compression a tad high so it was very detonation prone. It would always ping at 3k under load before and after the 0411 swap. The engine has been replaced by a lower compression 383 tuned port LT1 ( yes thats correct) using a modified Superram base and AS&M longtubes. Compression issue solved. The 'old' engine was cammed and carbed and sits on a stand.
Problem is the previous idle issues still exist. Still wants to stall at idle, surges between 600 and 1200, jumps to 2000 and holds for 5 seconds. Poor idle control. I can NOT get it to idle well enough to drive it. It acts like it has a huge vacuum leak. I do not see anything out of whack in my scan tool except cmp correlation codes, but I gotta get it running better to do the relearn.
New engine got new plugs. Both of them. Smells rich at idle but not as bad as it used to be. The 0411 in it now had to be retuned...2 times...for a faulty tune that wouldnt send an icm signal to the ign module. At this point I lost faith in the integrity of the tune. Not only did that take almost 3 months but my A/C, set up to be computer controlled, also does not work.

10.2:1 compression, aluminum LT1 heads(ported), superram base (ported), AS&M LTR's, comp 218/224 cam, 0411 vortec 4x (express van), new 30# fms injectors, T56
What do you guys think? Ive heard the 30# injectors can cause some slight richness at idle but this is rediculous. I cant think of anything else it could be.
