But you can convert your system to R13a, which can be expenive. In most cases it is not DIY type of job, so shop around for the best deal.

Before adding any freon to your system get it checked out. With the age, a lot of thing can go wrong,...Such as the compressor. Also until 1991 all 3rd gen were R12 systems. So NO you can not use R13a.
But you can convert your system to R13a, which can be expenive. In most cases it is not DIY type of job, so shop around for the best deal.
