Idle-5500 or 1500-6500

I'm building a 383 to have a little fun with but will be driving on the street often during the summer. Now I'm selecting a intake and cam but can't decide wether the powerband should be from idle-5500rpm or from 1500-6500rpm?
It'll mostly be a street driven camaro with a fee trips to the track. So what do to guys think is best

Yea 6500 is my limit. I wanna make sure I have enough low end torque to get up and go from stop light to stop light

Question was do you have parts in it suitable for running 6500?

It is a 383 , takes a lot to kill off the bottom end
You make no mention ( fill out your profile ) of trans / gears which also come into play as far as of the line accel goes

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Idle-5500 or 1500-6500

Consider what those "ratings" "mean" (if anything):

Does that "rating" "mean" that the engine (what engine is the "rating" for?) will produce ±10% of maximum torque over that RPM range? ±30.103%? (yeah I'm a geek... the rest of you who are like me will know what that number is) ±50%? ±90%? ±2 std devs? does it "mean" that it will merely run anywhere in that range? does it really "mean" ANYTHING AT ALL?

I don't know either.

Post what intakes you're talking about and what teh car is and what it's for, and maybe we can help you cut through the BS ad-copy fog and figure out if it's going to do what YOU want for YOUR car the way YOU drive it.

Re: Idle-5500 or 1500-6500

Those rpm ranges cover a broad range of ci for the sbc

So what would run good on a 305 from 1500-6500 would act a lot more tame in a 383 and drop the rpm range down to say idle-5500

need more specifics on your car and what parts are you looking at>

Learned one thing over the yrs, build for tq or hp the in between stuff never seemed to make me happy.. build smart with cubes you can have a happy medium of both. just be realistic in your usage and expectations.
