Idling and throttle problems
Idling and throttle problems
Hey guys
I have a 1989 formula with a 305 TPI that's having problems. The problems started after running the car hard up to about 4000 rpm. Currently the car will start but will not idle and I must feather the fuel to keep it running. If you Press on the throttle steady the engine will bog and die. The engine will also try to die if you give it throttle but when you release the throttle the engine will rev. So far what I have done is test fuel pressure, changed distributor, new plugs and wires, EGR valve, EGR valve solenoid(original read only 10 ohms),o2 sensor, New injecters and ecu. I have also checked all solenods and relays under the hood for low ohms and shorts as directed by the new ecu. The tps also checked ok. When I got the new ecu I first checked everything and then installed it and I started the car and to my surprise the car ran and idled but idled at around 1500 rpm and still had throttle hesitation. So I check the timing while the car was running and without warning the engine died as if the ignition switch was turned off. So I restarted the car and now it runs exactly the same was as before. Could there be a problem with the PROM causing these issues? What is the chances that the problem has destroyed the new ecu? Did the car first run because the new ecu was in learning mode? Iam at a loss on next steps I am thinking about ohm checking the wiring harness to the ecu. If anyone has any ideas at all please let me know I'm getting desperate and need some assistance. Please help thanks guys
