had another go with the trans am today checked power to the relays fuse by the battery ect all ok. its got fuel up to the bleeder pipe when you crank it over theres loads of fuel there so does that mean it must be the injectors why its not starting

 

First of all what are we working on?

I'm just going to assume its a 8N tractor.
We need to know what the fuel pressure is, it could be half of what we need it to be and it will still shoot over the front bumper.

Come on people we need more info than this.

as said in the title its a trans am gta 1989 5.7 tpi just put in new coil ignition module pick up coil as it had no spark now it has great spark but not getting its fuel i have had it running by spraying fuel in the throttle body. fuel pump primes have checked the fuse by the battery relays are ok. its got fuel upto rail and messing with the plug at the ignition module it started up but only the one time and would not start again so will have a look tonight if theres a loose wire or shorting anywhere

 

Put on a noid light (or equivalent) and make sure there is power to the injectors (you checked both fuses right?) and make sure the ECM is pulsing the injectors. Measure the resistance of all the injectors. VATS will stop it from pulsing but it looks like your car might not have it. Bad injectors will stop it from pulsing by shutting down the ECM driver transistors without throwing a code and so will not receiving a tach type signal from the distributor pickup.

 

thanks for the reply afremont yes it does have vats but the security light it coming on with ignition and going out when cranking the engine. checked the fuse by the battery and fuse panel drivers side will order a test light tonight and see if its got power to the injectors
