comp 280XFI HR13 streetable?
comp 280XFI HR13 streetable?
I'm putting together an engine for a 73 Camaro and was hoping for some advice.
my plans so far:
383 @ 10.5
210cc heads with 1.6 full roller rocker arms
headers
muncie 4 speed
3.73 posi
HSR with 32lbs injectors and a megasquirt
The question is, would a comp 280XFI HR13 be too much cam for a drive as often as i can afford gas car.
any advice would be appreciated.

Not really; probably not a bad choice at all. Although to be honest, once you start getting up into that range of cam, solid rollers, custom ground to fit your application, start looking MIGHTY attractive.

Any cam like that is likely to test your tuning skillz though.

Re: comp 280XFI HR13 streetable?
Mass airflow or speed density? I tuned it on a bored over L98, 360" with stealth ram hsr on top and mass air flow ecm. Was easy to get running. Didnt need much from stock tune settings for idle and cruise other than timing and rpm commanded. Idled 750-800 ish with good lope. In a 383 it will be mild and drive even better. We even drove the 360 on stock converter no issue. Very driveable although an aggressive lobe for street driving.
You should have no issue with speed density either but that takes abit more time to tune in my experience. Maf kinda self tunes for airflow changes.
Make sure you run the afr 8019 hyd roller springs for that cam if you have the hyd roller version. Needs the stiff pressure to keep from floating. That motor will make north of 425 whp if all else is right
Edit: ahh you have megasquirt which i guess is speed density map based. No big deal just not sure what all tables it has for driveability code like stock ecm tunes
