Tick tick tick......
Ok guys have a problem. I have a 305 tbi changed the intake gaskets. They were leaking on the rear corners ( very minor leak). Never the less I had time and felt froggy so I jumped on it. Blasted the intake blew it out very good cleared it painted all the bolts and brackets and tbi as well. Cleaned all the mounting surfaces put a lot of time in doing all this. So, after i put it all together she runs great but tick tick tick. It's on the passenger side And it's driving me nuts. I changed the oil running 5w50 castrol syntec I normally run Mobil 1 15w50. Only reason I changed weights cause it was on sale. I wiped down the lifter valley got rid of all the antifreeze that leaked out and made sure that is was clean. So what's going on? Like I said it runs great no leaks or issues other than the tick.
Forgot to mention. I have headers no collectors and I haven't check the bolts ur it wasn't leaking before and they have been on the car for years.

Maybe a intake gasket leak at the EGR ports between the head and intake?

Could check to see if its an exhaust tick. Since its TBI, I guess you could stop spark for a second on those cylinders one at a time and see if it goes away.

Re: Tick tick tick......
Hey guys thank for the help checked everything it's tight. I did change plugs and checked the timing was off by 2 * but it ran fine. After all this the tick has gotten quieter and it's only at idle now. But the new issue is its got an intermittent starting problem. These gremlins need to go away lol. Thanks for all your help.
