Yes...

There IS NO difference. (depending of course on what you're expecting it to be different FROM)

Not sure why you're expecting it to be "different"?

Re: computer controlled distributor part number?

just because parts sites list the model as trans am base and fi, im guessing because I have the 5spd it's a base trans am? that even looks crazy considering that a trans am is a optioned out firebird.

Re: computer controlled distributor part number?

It's a GM HEI.

What are you really asking? What are you expecting? That GM would have unnecessarily used a different dist cap & rotor on otherwise identical motors just because of some sheet metal wrinkles and stickers on the bodies they were wrapped in?

No, to me it looked identical to all other hei's that i've had, however this is my first feedback QJ car and the prom does the adv and ret, so I was asking what the difference was considering that if you change to regular non prom controlled carb you have to change the distributor according to everyone on this board.

Re: computer controlled distributor part number?

Yup, you have to change the DISTRIBUTOR; not the CAP & ROTOR.
