82 Z28 now in the stable

Hey all,

My Sister in law just bought an 82 Z28, 305, auto. I have offered to work on it and get it back into shape for her, as it has been neglected for quite a while.

This is the best of both worlds for me, I get to work on rebuilding a classic Camaro and I get to spend HER money doing it!

I own an 95 Z28 ragtop and have just gotten it back in shape and cleaned up for some cruising.

I had a quick peek at her car today. The engine starts and runs, but misses badly and will not idle. I have to hold it at 2500 rpm to get it smooth out a bit, but it still misses. I pulled a couple of plugs and they were badly fouled and probably 3/4 of the vacuum lines were off, or in the wrong spot as well.

I will be replacing the plugs, cap and rotor shortly, and checking the timing. Wires seem to be in OK shape at this point.

I am sure I will be back pretty regularly for tech advice as I go here.

Updates to follow as I go. Should be a fun build thread. Nice to use someone else's $$$ for a change!

First order of business is cleaning this up and getting the vacuum lines all back on the right place, without leaks.

It's a little varnished!
