Vortec manifold clearance question
Hello everyone I have a 1983 Berlinetta. It has a lm1 (350) out of a 1980z28 with a t5 in it. I am upgrading the stock heads with some vortec 906's and am wondering if I can run a edelbrock rpm airgap without hood clearance issues? Thank you for any advice you can give.

I don't see a problem. You may have to play with air cleaner selection to get one with enough drop to provide the clearance you need. I've had them in the shop with The Eddy Performers and there seemed to be plenty of room to spare. Think of how tall TPI is or the HSR and they clear on the Camaros.

It is close with a holley carb, but will work with a drop base air cleaner. I like to use a carriage bolt instead of a stud/nut. Looks nice and adds 0 height to your air cleaner assembly.
Re: Vortec manifold clearance question
If you're just changing heads and intake you might want to go with the non-RPM version of the intake. Edlebrock Performer Vortec intake is available with a QJet carb flange, if you plan on reusing the original carb. They also make a really excellent Performer EPS intake for Vortec heads but it is only available in with Holley/squarebore carb flange.
Weaind makes a Street Warrior that is their direct competitor to the Performer EPS except that they offer it with a QJet carb flange, which you can't get from Edelbrock (best of both worlds!). FYI- All Summit house brand intakes are re-badged Weiand intakes with the Summit logo on them and a few bucks knocked off the price.
Any of these intakes will fit under the stock hood without having to play the air cleaner games that any of the RPM intakes will require. They're idle-5500 kind of RPM range intakes which would work well, perhaps better than the RPM, unless you are planning a significant cam upgrade as part of your project.
