r134a Retrofit Pressure Switch Adjust
Getting ready to put the A/C back into my car. It was removed by a PO and has had no A/C equipment in the 5 years I've owned it. Last summer when temperatures reached 100F on the east coast I swore it was going to be the last summer I drove without A/C. Since everything else on the car has been finished and I've sunk $15k into it between 2011 and 2012 alone, I find it downright ghetto at this point that I still have no A/C.
I purchased a NEW aluminum housing compressor with orifice tube and drier, NEW condenser, installed a "new" evaporator core that came out of my friend's 92 firebird (Car had 40k original miles when we removed it) and plan on having that part flushed. My friend is giving me the driver side compressor mount lines and brackets and I'm looking to have everything in by the end of this month. High pressure switch I installed into the compressor is new and the low pressure switch that goes on the drier was taken from the bird.
My question is I know that r134a operates at different pressures than R12 and for optimal performance the switches must be calibrated correctly. I see adjustment screw in the low pressure switch at the drier but what should it be set to?
For the high pressure switch in the compressor, I see no way to adjust it. It was purchased new from advance auto. Am I missing something or can this switch not be adjusted?

Re: r134a Retrofit Pressure Switch Adjust
I have converted countless vehicles to 134 from 12, and have never changed any adjustments. I'd leave it alone. but that's just my 2 cents.....

Re: r134a Retrofit Pressure Switch Adjust
when i've converted Gen2 TA's to 134, i always turned the adjustment screw counterclockwise to get a lower low side pressure value. you should have a manifold hooked up when charging the system. do a search on 134 pressures vs ambient and adjust the switch screw as needed.
