Siphoning Fuel from LG4 - Help!

I've done a few searches but I'm stuck. Entered my cars in an indoor show next weekend and one of the requirements per fire code is that the cars must have less than 1/4 of a tank. I just brought the cars out of storage and of course they're all full. Unfortunately due to time and weather, driving them down to 1/4 is not an option right now.

I picked up a drill pump today and a few feet of hose thinking there is no way my 30 and 25 year old ThirdGens (both LG4s) would have a anti siphon device but it appears they do. I am using a 1/2" O.D. hose and it gets stuck. about 12" in.

What are my options here? Would a smaller hose work? Can I hook the hose in line with the fuel filter on the carb and just cycle the ignition on and off (without actually turning the car on). Could I put my drill pump on that same line and suck it out that way?

Dropping the tank is not an option.

Thank you!

Need to get a small 12V explosion proof pump uses like 1/8" hose. I drained a boat fuel tank (about 100 gals) in a few hours. Cheap 13.95 at hobby stores....

Careful w/ a drill pump, drill motors have a exposure spark on the armitures.

you could get a low pressure occilating plunger type 12v electric pump of the type that Facet makes, disconnect the rubber hose from the engine mounted camaro pump, connect the facet type pump there and use it to pump through a rubber fuel line to gas cans.As stated above,be careful using the drill pump around fuel vapors as those brush motors normally spark in operation.

Yes, there is an anti-siphon device in the tank filler neck.

Remove the gas cap. Remove the supply line from the fuel pump. Be prepared to catch the gas that comes out. Jack the back end of the car up. If fuel isn't already siphoning out, put some pressure on the filler. Let the car back down when enough fuel is out and reconnect the supply line to the pump.

Re: Siphoning Fuel from LG4 - Help!

Figured I'd update this for fellow idiots like me. After siphoning three cars in the past 12 hours...I've got it down pretty good.

I ended up hooking into the fuel line (larger of the two) that goes to the fuel pump off the block. There is a rubber line about 2 feet long that slides over the metal hose on the passenger side of the car (clearly visible, nothing in the way). Then I hooked up my drill pump and out came the gas.

**Note** I hooked my drill pump up to about 10' feet of hose and ran it as far away from the car as I could. I also put a wet rag over the drill itself to prevent any sparking. Like the others said...there are safer ways of doing this, but if you do this...take precations! Don't blow yourself up!
