Camshaft selection for late 60s Corvette 350

Hi everyone...

I've had a ticking/knocking sound in my engine for the last year... It didn't sound like a lifter problem, but rather a mix between a lifter, and a rod knock. After pulling the intake and oil pan last year, I found nothing wrong with the engine... Looked almost brand new. I put almost 2K miles on the engine after this, ticking continuing. While I had the pan off I replaced the oil pump, distributor, fuel pump, and fuel pump pushrod.

I finally pulled the timing cover yesterday, and found the cam gear was lose, and slapping around. I figured while I was in there, I might choose a slightly hotter cam.

I had decided on building a new engine, but wanted to distribute funds in the end towards my TKO swap, and the money just isn't there now to build something completely fresh.

Now that I have found where the noise was coming from, I wanted some opinions on selecting a camshaft.

The engine is from 1974... A GM Target motor made for a Corvette replacement. From the info I found, its stock horsepower rating is 300. Seems consistent with the times I ran it at the strip in the mid to lower 13s. Car weighs 3572lbs with me in it.

Not much to say, other than it was rebuilt when I got it and bored .030 over to 355, and has headers. I am running a Holley 600cfm double pumper on an Edelbrock Performer intake... Stock iron heads. Wanted to give it a little more oomph. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Flat tappet, lunati voodoo 268 advertised or about that. Get springs and lifters to match. Should be fun, hot street strip action. Would not go bigger. Hopefully the exhaust is good. Also could use a high performance dual plane intake

Thank you for the response... I am learning more and more about matching engine components. I may be pulling the heads again, and may or may not be going with something a bit better.
