Adjust valves or not?

Hi everybody. I'm wrapping up a huge project. I got a low mileage 350 tuned port engine installed in my IROC. It was stored in a warehouse for anywhere from 5-10 years before I dropped it in and got it going. It runs great but now I have the exaust halfway installed I can hear a slight lifter tapping.

I don't know if I have a stubborn lifter that just hasn't pumped back up yet since it was stored so long or if I should reset all the valves. If I go through all the valves to correct it and then the tapping lifter decides to free up and pump up some more I could be in trouble or maybe just get a miss and have to go through the valves again.

It's got about 30 minutes of run time on it with fresh oil and filter before start up. Been through about 4 heat cycles. It's very slight and almost not worth worrying about but it's all I can focus on whenever it's running and drives me crazy.

Anyone have some good advice? 100MPH tuneup maybe?

Re: Adjust valves or not?

What happened when you adjusted the valves? (basic n00b maintenance any sensible owner of a "performance" car should be prepared to apply at any time with no more than a moment's notice)

I haven't adjusted valves at all. Assuming they are still at factory setting.
it's been in storage for maybe 10 years. I'm asking if I should adjust now or wait and see if it comes out of it since it was stored so long.

Anybody know of the best oil additive product to free up sticky lifters? I think it's such a slight tick it's worth running it for awhile with an additive to see if it comes out of it.

Seafoam?
Marvel mystery oil?
Valve medic?
Risoline?
quart of tranny fluid added to oil?
Engine flush solvent stuff?

Please let me know if any of you have had good results loosening up a gummed lifter by adding any of these these to the oil. (just curious)

Re: Adjust valves or not?

I would run an oil flush through it and try fresh oil. Then I would adjust the valves.

Well after a few good drives it was a little worse, since I had a change for the worse I went ahead and re adjusted that particular rocker. It was a lot looser than the rest almost like someone started to take it off before. Anyways that's taken care of.

I still have a little ticking/clicking that I decided was coming from the injectors/fuel rail. I did some searching and a lot of people with the new Bosch 3's say they are very loud. Some people make them quieter by shimming the fuel rail up a little but I'm just gonna close the hood.
