Slow acceleration, wont pass 3300rpm

Hey guys, I have an automatic 86 trans am with a 305TPI, if i put the pedal to the floor it wont rev past 3300rpm and other times the motor will rev up but will accelerate pretty slow until I hit 2nd gear. In park it will rev up fine. I replaced the fuel filter which got rid of the initial bogging problem I was having but now that problems gone I noticed this one. occassionally the check engine light will go on while driving but will turn off after a minute or two. I have a feeling its low fuel pressure and am gonna check that soon but I was wondering what other possible reasons could be causing this, thanks

Still got a cat on the exhaust?
A blocked cat will give similar symptoms

Pull the engine codes and see if anything showing ; you may actually have a engine problem

Original fuel pump? Yeah, it sounds like it's either starving for fuel or the cat is plugged.

Ya I was gonna gut the cat later, I just cleaned the throttle body cause my gas pedal stuck last night and I figured out the throttle was catching up on a hose clamp the idiot before me put on the air intake duct, I go to rev the car and it wont rev past 2500, it feels like its bouncing off a rev limiter but its obviously not

Just scanned it and got codes 34, 44. 34 is the MAF and 44 is for the o2 sensor saying its burning lean

Re: Slow acceleration, wont pass 3300rpm

Went to gut the cat and sliced my hand open when a bolt finally broke free and my hand slammed into a sharp edge of the flange, 9 stitches later I checked the maf and found a spacer for where the tubing connects to the maf all bunched up infront of the maf, I replaced the maf and it runs like 1 million bucks, that spacer must have blocked airflow and burned out the old maf, thanks for everyone's help.
