Engine: 2.8 MPFI V6
Transmission: 700R4 Automatic 4 speed
Axle/Gears: 3.42 Open With Drum Brakes
Need To Know What Can Swap Between V6 and V8 Powertrains
Hey guys I have a question. What parts can swap between V6 and V8 power trains? I'm parting out an '86 Sport Coupe with the 2.8 and 700R4. I was wondering specifically if the drive shaft and rear end will swap to a V8 car. Also is the only difference between the 700's on V6 and V8 cars just the bell housing? Thanks.

Driveshaft and rear will swap no problem. I am fairly sure the gear ratios in the 700r4 are different between v6 and v8

The 700s also have different # of clutches; fewer in the 6-cyl ones. But AFAIK the gear ratios are the same.
Drive shaft and rear are interchangeable. Torque arm & crossmember as well. Nothing else is.
