Starting Issues
Hey peoples. My 85 z28 won't start when the engine gets hot. It starts perfectly when cold but if I drive it around for like 30 min - 1hr, I turn it off and it won't turn over. It sounds like its trying but just won't turn over. Then I leave it cool for a little like 20 - 30 min it will start. I replaced the ignition control module and it still does it. I bought a heat shield for my starter but It doesn't even fit at all. Now I have to do all this cutting to make it fit. Anybody have a problem with their headers heating up their starter? I heard it could be that, hence why I bought the heat shield. My header pipe is kinda close to the starter, I could see it happening but any ideas if the heat shield would work? And does anybody have pics of a heatshield installed because I need an idea how to attach mine anyway.

You will get results like this

www.thirdgen.org/solenoid
It is called a IGNITION control module because it controls the ignition ( spark ) ; nothing to do with the starter.

So no to the heat shield? lol And so to get rid of this problem, I have to create an alternate solenoid and run all the wires to the solenoid? Why wasn't this happening before? Like I kinda noticed a difference in hot and cold starts but nothing this dramatic until now. Oh and thank you for being the 1 reply out of like 70 views!
Re: Starting Issues
I suggest checking the fuel pressure and pressure regulator. I had a similar intermittent starting problem that was caused by a bad fuel pressure regulator.

Sorry, I didn't notice that you said it wouldn't even turn over. Maybe your battery is weak?
