How to make sure an L98 from LB9
How to make sure an L98 from LB9
swap was done right.
I am going to look at a car when the owner is back in town.
It is an 89 IROC original LB9 5-speed car with about every option except 1LE. But, the car has huge mileage overall but less than 100K on the swapped engine.
It is original except for it now has a 5.7 TPI. I plan to see the codes to see what year it is, etc.

Other than trying to tell what year it is from, Vette or Camaro,
if there anything else I can do to see if it has been installed correctly. I had an 85 Z28 LB9 from 86-92, but not messed with one since. I am not sure if the idle will sound off if the chip was not redone right, etc. Thanks for any tips.
For the RPOs, does anyone know what UU8 or E72 is? A couple others would not code out either.

You need to know the displacement of the engine. You can do that by:
1) Do a volume displacement test on a cylinder
2) Pull a head and measure the bore and stroke
3) Check the block casting # (this at best will tell you if it is 4" bore or not)
Probably the easiest way to do #3 is to get underneath the car and check for the last 3 digits of the block casting number cast on the side of the block. I can't guarantee they'll be there, but they usually are. If not, then get the block casting # from behind the driver side head (not easy, but is foolproof).

Just offer him money to cover a 305 and assume it's a 305. Dont pay extra for recently refreshed maintenance parts.
