I dont havr experience with either springs so hopeing someone with experience will chime in. Im doing a cam swap soon and want some info on springs as I have been reading a lot of OLDER posts about the comp 918 springs. Cam spec is 210 220@.050 .512 .512 with 1.6 rockers. I heard a few years ago comp was having problems with there springs breaking but I dont know if they fixed that problem or not. If they did I would like to go with comp springs. But I havent heard anything bad about pac 1218 springs. Everyone is saying good things about them
Comp switched manufacturers for the 918's, had some breakage issues and i believe switched manufacturers again. I dont believe any issues occur with the latest run of 918's. I run pac springs in my builds, they have better choices available imo
People with this same cam are running comp 915s. As you just stated comp had different manufactures for different springs? I woulda thought the 915s and 918s woulda been madeout of same material/ same manufacturer. But od thing is I havent heard anything really bad about the 915s which makes me wonder whats so dofferent about thwm that the 918 break more.
I dont know who/where all the springs are made. Alot of companies use the same spring just labeled/branded differently. Its common in the industry
Reason you hear more on the 918's as they were meant for more aggressive setups than the 915's. most of the guys using beehives were the ls1 crowd. They were running aggressive cams and the 918's were suppose to control the cam lobes. I think alot of ppl ran too much cam on the springs and breakage occurred. Then again some may just have broke from poor quality in a bad run of springs.
Regardless i dont see how your cam wouldnt work with either. Doesnt appear to be to aggressive. Wont be spinning ultra high in a 350 so valve control should be fine with either spring
