91 camaro 3.1 oil pressure sensor

91 camaro 3.1 oil pressure sensor

  1. got a 3.1l that has been hard starting for a while. noticed this morning when i try to start i turn the key on let the pump prime, oil gauge reads 0. try it again still reads 0 and no start. then i turn the key a 3rd time and the gauge goes up about 1/4 way still wont start then turn thekey a 4th time and it goes to about 3/4 and fibally starts. read the other day that the ops can effect starting. wanting to find out for sure though

The oil pressure switch is in parallel with the fuel pump relay. Odds are the fuel pump relay is bad. What is happening is that once oil pressure builds the OP switch runs the fuel pump.

Fuel pump relay is on drivers side near the brake booster. It is the one with the short red pigtail on it.

thanks so much fort he info. i hear the relay click after the two second prime. but smetimes ill go to turn the key and the fuel pump wont run. it doesnt do it a lot every once in a blue moon. could that be the relay going bad?

It could be the ECM, relay socket, relay, or wiring. Most of the time it is the relay.

alright thanks man ill prolly just replace the relay cuz the car sat for 3 years before i got it and ive had it for about a year now so for all i know it could be the original relay if not is there a way to test the wiring running to the relay??
