Fuel pump/filter ?

I have done allot of reading on the subject of changing the fuel filter but my question is about this statement I found. = "The oil pressure sending unit doubles as a fuel pump relay by-pass. When you pulled the fuses it kept running because the OP sending unit kept supplying power to the pump."
If this is true exactly what needs to be done to change the fuel filter?

Re: Fuel pump/filter ?

Huh...... Bleed the line pressure off at the service port on the fuel rail (being careful), Shouldn't be no need in running the car/lines out of fuel.

Re: Fuel pump/filter ?

Thanks guys,
I had a shop put it on a lift so we could get at it. He simply used one of those tall fluid catch cans and took off one side of the filter with fuel flowing out a little and did the other side. Fuel still trickling out. Put the new filter on. Done. It cost me $20.00 for about 3 minutes work under the car.
I consider myself a pretty smart guy and try to do all the work on my car. All of this is new to me being my first build but watching him do that made me feel kind of low. I could not even replace a fuel filter .Well know I know.
