Msd streetfire distributor

Anyone have any reviews on this distributor? It says I get 22 degrees at 4000rpms..is that too high? And if so what can I do to have it all in at about 3000 or so? I had to turn the distributor retarded a bit to get it to start and idle as good as the old distributor...I noticed some decent power, better throttle response and a more smooth operation throughout the entire rpm range! I guess my old one was tired!
