Rusty Coolant

So my coolant is rather discolored. My car leaks/burns off the coolant somehow, but slowly. The coolant ends up turning a redish brownish color as well. What could this be? Hoping its not a head gasket issue

Re: Rusty Coolant

you say it goes away?? do a pressure trest on it and look for visual outside leaks. then check your plugs, maybe do a pressure test while they are out. do you have oil that looks like a milk shake??

Re: Rusty Coolant

It seems to be leaking around the intake manifold.

Re: Rusty Coolant

Has the coolant been maintained with regular flushing?
Conventional green coolant is only good for about 2 years, then the anti corrosive additives wear out. If it hasn't been maintained, the block probably has lots of rust in it thats floating around in the system.
I would fix the leak first then flush the system good and install fresh coolant.
