car build

I have a 1984 camaro z28 5.0L H.O.
The aftermarket parts i have include hotchkis subframe connectors, edelbrock 600 cfm carb and intake, hooker headers and ypipe, cat removed, and magnaflow catback exhaust. Transmission has recently been rebuilt with shift kit added, brakes have less than 5,000 miles on them and replaced sway bar. All pulleys have been replaced with smog pump and A.I.R. deleted and fuel tank, pump, filter, and lines have been replaced.
Car was sitting up for 10 years and had to do a good bit of work to get it to the position it is in now and wanted some advice.

I'm currently in college and want to be able to drive this car as a daily driver. My budget would be about $5,000 at best and i work at a mechanic shop so i would be able to do all that is needed for minimal cost.
I'm looking to build a 350 that gets close to 300hp to the ground and decent gas mileage, i was planning on changing the gears from 3.73 to 3.42 posi or 3.08 posi, what would be the best setup and best use of my budget to acheive my goal. Thanks in advance
