Fuel Injector question - '91-Z28

Could use some help... Got a 91Z28 convertible with the multiport fuel injection on it. The car sat for a while and when I got it out, it ran good for a while and then NOT. Died at idle and then would't start. The shop says, gas was bad - now good. however, 5 of the 8 injectors have tested at 4ohms. They want to replace them.. $$$$ So, am I being hacked?

The car had been at a shop where they were supposed to keep it serviced, obviously that didn't happen.... Any support would be great. Been a lurker for a while - You guys ROCK! Thanks for being here...

"Gas was bad - now good". I assume you mean the fuel system has been flushed and refilled with fresh stuff. Cars go bad just by sitting idle for a long time. Your injectors are bad. Fuel pump might also be pooched from inactivity, so check pressue.

Yes, they changed the fuel filter and threw some new gas in there - claiming the gas lines are now good. It ran for a bit and now won't. They claim it will run with starter fluid, but the injectors are only at 4ohms. Fuel pressure is good.

I've had a couple people tell me the injectors cannot be rebuilt, other say they can?

Is it possible for the injectors to go "bad" from the fuel, or can they be cleaned?

Thanks again..

Yes the injectors can go bad from sitting in old fuel. The problem with your injectors is with the coils, and no, it's not repairable. A "rebuilt" fuel injector has simply only been cleaned and tested.

That's correct, coils cannot be repaired. Unfortunately all of your injectors are going to have to be replaced. If we can help you in any way, give us a shout at the shop.
