5.7 TPI single cat starter install

OK so I managed to get the old starter out. I can't find the secret rotation or order on how to get the new one in.
Anyone done this? Bone stock 89 Formula. Do I have to pull the Y pipe? because right now that looks like my only option. I don't have the best history with unbolting old exhaust(usually turns a $100 project into $500).

So far as I know, it's either unbolt the exhaust, or grind down some spot under there for clearance. (control arm mount? can't remember)
