Hot Start Problem - Fuel pump maybe?
Hot Start Problem - Fuel pump maybe?
1992 RS
I have a problem that is occurring once in blue moon. Maybe like once every 2 weeks. Here is what happens...
When the outside temp is very hot (100-110F) is when this issue occurs. I start the car in the morning, it starts fine, and I drive it around for at least 1 hour. Then I park it and turn off the engine. If I try to start it again right away its fine and starts up BUT if I let the car sit for 30-45 mins and then try to start it that damn thing won't start. The engine cranks but won't start. It tries to start sometimes but they just sputters. Sometimes it will start and then just sputter out a second later. Then it won't even sputter anymore just the engine cranks. It's obviously a fuel starvation issue.
It only happens when
1. It's very hot outside
2. The car is shut off and sits for 30 mins or so
I was thinking fuel pump but now I'm thinking fuel system pressure or something. It's scary cuz I never know when the car is going to start. After cranking the engine for a while I let the car sit for an hour and then it will start right up.
Any ideas?

For future help issues it would be greatly appreciated if you'd finish filling out your profile, that way people know what you have. It just speeds up things because the following questions are already answered:
Is your engine carbureted or Is it all stock?
Have you done any modifications to it regarding fuel delivery or the engine?
