Are you saying that the fuel pump will not run?

Re: 1992 1le not starting

A no-start is pretty easy to diagnose.

An engine requires 3 things to run: air/fuel in some reasonable proportion, spark at a reasonable point in the engine cycle, and compression.

Most often, the reason an engine won't start, is because ONE of The Big Three has gone missing. Just ONE. All you gotta do is figure out which one. Pretty simple, really.

Most often, compression doesn't just "go away". It can, of course; the timing set could fail for example. But that leaves other clues, so we can assume that it hasn't happened in your situation, since you'd probably be asking a different question if it had.

That only leaves 2 of The Big Three: air/fuel, and spark.

Air is probably not a problem, so cross that one off the list.

Fuel is EXTREMELY EASY to substitute for. All you gotta do, is pour a bit of fuel into the intake, and see if it will start. Starting fluid works great for that. So, shoot a good bit of it in there, and try to start it. Either it will, or it won't. If it does, then you know FOR SURE, your problem is a lack of fuel. If it doesn't, then it's lack of spark.

Odds are, it's going to run; but, do the test to make sure. From there, you can be CERTAIN that your problem is or is not fuel-related. At least, you'll know you're working on the right part of the car, when you go trying to narrow it down further.
