so my oil pressure gauge stopped working, replaced the bell shaped sender on back of motor by distrib, no change

i noticed the gague stopped after, could have been before, i had jumper on aldl for reading code and started it, but that should be fine?

what is the other oil sender switch by the filter?

the gauge lights up when key turned to on but nothing when running, digital dash

So my local Nappa store has a Oil Pressure Light Switch, 2 wire connector, assume this is the one above the oil filter? guess i try this

 

My car is a 89 IROC 5.0 TPI engine and the sender that feeds the gauge is by the oil filter. My car has a gauge no light for oil psi.
No expert on these engines but I would bet the correct one is by the oil filter.
Just realized you have digital cluster so the oil pressure "gauge" lights up but shows no oil psi. Those senders to do go bad, and usually will leak too.

 

I looked at the sensor last nite, its covered in dirt n oil, picking up replacement after work today, fingers crossed this fixes my gauge

I have gone over the service manual and all the wire diagrams, this is the only other thing

and yes, digital dash, the lights come on when key turned to on, but no pressure shows

if its covered in oil and dirt that means it is leaking and it will throw codes and not function properly that one can be removed from underneath the car if ya didnt know with a 1 1/16 wrench just dont do it hot

 

update

I have now replaced both oil sensors/switches and still no gauge

Next is to pull dash and check for continuity between dash and the wire going to the bell shaped sensor on top, as if i ground it still shows nothing on the gauge

if i was to install a mech gauge, as no one around me stocks a electric gauge, how do I install it?
